Angelina Jolie

You see this picture here? Thats Angelina Jolie when she was about 15 years old. I’d say that thats about the average age of you girls here on tumblr. Back in her day, she was teased for being ‘ugly’ and having fat lips. For looking like an outcast and having no guys like her cause she isnt pretty enough. She’s pretty here, but in her time, she was among the less attractive. Look at her now. She is one of the most if not THE most beautiful person on earth. She’s stunning. This should be an example to you girls. Just because you dont consider yourself pretty now, you have your whole life ahead of you to blossom into something you’d never imagine. You’re still young. Some people who are pretty now, lose it later. Some people who aren’t as attractive now, get it later. Trust.

I still think she was definitely beautiful when she was 15. She definitely blossomed, though.

She learned how to really make her features work for her. I’m 19 and I’m hoping that it’s not too late for me.

Maybe one day my own beauty will blossom like that.

but the snow outside is still beautiful
my binges are a lot more controlled than they used to be
I will get to decorate my house tomorrow
I have absolutely nothing that I am obligated to do
our Christmas lights are on
I am learning Irish

so maybe it will all be O.K. (:

Hello, good morning, the love of my life just featured in the best song in the world, plus I have a Misfits marathon scheduled for tonight so I will get to see seven hours of him and his gorgeousness and his impeccable acting, and I think I am dangerously infatuated with Robert Sheehan

He has inspired me, and now I have goals for winter break: develop both a Scottish Glasgow accent and a Northern Irish one

ahhhh I am in such a fabulous mood (:

Today didn’t go as well as I had hoped, but I’m optimistic and working to mend things. Because I overate, I’m doing a little extra cardio, but since

a) I’m lazy
b) I’m feeling slightly sick and
c) I too-recently did an intense elliptical work-out

I’m going to stick to a dorm-room one. Unfortunately this means I won’t get to burn as many of my extra calories, but on the bright side it means I get to stay inside and work on some of my essays that I would like to finish before Thanksgiving break.

I’m really excited to get down to a normal weight again. I know it’s probably only feeding the disorder to talk about it, but really, when you gain twenty pounds in two months, you start to look forward to life without them.

Yeah so anyway, the mix this time is all Tiësto since my iPod is absolutely frozen and won’t respond to anything.

10 minutes jumping jacks
10 minutes sit-ups
5 minute work-out video (x2)

None of this was consecutive, of course. That would be hell. :3 I did (and am in the process of doing) two minutes of jumping jacks, an hour-or-so break, one minute of jumping jacks, a forty-five minute break, et cetera. I want to be up all night so I can sleep in really late tomorrow, go to bed early for class, and eat less to compensate (which I understand isn’t good, but I’ve been overeating often enough that I really do feel it’s necessary if I don’t want to gain huge amounts. I’ve been taking one step forward and like three back, so it’s kind of a big deal).

Ho hum. Hopefully I will get these papers done; I really want to enjoy my break.

I want to be a triathlete. I am pants at running very long distances because I am easily bored, but I do like running, and I love biking, and swimming is alright. Changing between the three different legs of the race would be a nice change of pace.

So here’s the idea: Instead of trying to lose weight to be thinner, I am simply going to try and become the best triathlete I can be. I think I will be a happier person for it, because I miss playing sports. (I also want to break 22 minutes for a 5K).

Level One: Physical
1 Run at least one mile three days per week
2 Elliptical intervals for half an hour at least once per week
3 Yoga at least once per week
4 Strength training at least three times per week

Level Two will most likely involve upping my mileage and adding in some speed-work.

I’ll also have to eat properly, because if I’m not fueling my body well, then I won’t perform well.

Level One: Nutritional
1 Eat within the net calorie range of 1200 to 1500 calories per day at least five days per week
2 (Optional) Eat within the net calorie range of 1500 to 1800 calories per day once per week
3 (Optional) If feeling a binge, eat within the net calorie range of 2200 calories if it cannot be avoided under any circumstances and to ignore it would induce extreme over-eating. Limit to once per week if necessary and not at all if able
4 Eat 4 to 6 servings of carbohydrates*
5 Eat within 3 to 5 servings of protein*
6 Eat fruits and vegetables for snacks
7 Only eat when truly hungry

*May be adjusted based on exercise level

And hopefully I’ll get a road bike within the next year so I can join the triathlon club once I’m in shape (target date: fall quarter of sophomore year). The club looks pretty legit; I do receive the e-mails since I signed up for it at the involvement fair, and they do a fair amount of activities together, seem very friendly, offer job opportunities, have trips, and do fund-raisers together.

Yeah, maybe I should get back to my philosophy essay…

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: A Conflicted Review

Honestly, if this were not a Harry Potter movie or I had not read the books, I probably would not have liked it. In fact, if I had not read the books, I probably would have stopped after the travesty of The Prisoner of Azkaban, but that is a tale for another time.

I rated the movie three stars because I honestly could not decide whether it was good or not. As a stand-alone movie, it certainly was not good. The characters and their relationships were rather poorly developed; the only reason I cared for them and felt like I kind of “knew” them was because I have read the books and seen the movies countless times. There were one or two characters that I thought were done really well (Dobby was one of them), but otherwise, they were mediocre or sub-par at best.

And I can imagine the plot was confusing for anyone who hasn’t read the books, as well. I only read the seventh book once, and I had trouble keeping up with a few of the events. It wasn’t terribly done, of course, but in many places certain aspects that I felt needed to be drawn out either to explain something more thoroughly or for dramatic effect where very rushed.

The cinematography was pretty good, except for in a few places where I thought the camera was having a seizure, and the scenery was pretty excellent, as well.

However, here were one or two scenes that were completely goofy when they should have been serious and profound. One of these is the scene in the woods with the horcrux, and I’m sure anyone who has seen the movie will understand what I mean and agree.

One of the best and most awesome scenes in the movie was actually one where there were no actors involved — The Tale of the Three Brothers, or something to that effect.

The soundtrack was good. In some places it was subtle (and rightly so) and in other places it was perfect and dramatic.

I’m still really conflicted about whether I indeed like this movie or just the idea of it. It might take one or two more showings to tell.
